2020 isn’t exactly how we thought we’d start our 25th year of serving Wisconsin LGBTQIA+ students and educators. But here we are, and GSAFE has proudly pivoted to adjust to the changing landscape in order to continue providing crucial support to youth leaders and school districts.
In honor of our 25th year we’re asking you to help us provide your friends and family with the opportunity to support GSAFE for this year’s National Coming Out Day on October 11th.
You can do that by creating a Facebook fundraiser that supports GSAFE on or before October 11th, which also just happens to be the day of our virtual and in-person Trick or Trot Walk/Run. (See how we did that?)
Setting up a fundraiser on Facebook is easy. Go to GSAFE’s Facebook page and click on the “Fundraisers” link at the top of the page, just under our logo. Or you can just click on this link.
Once there, find the “Create a Fundraiser” box on the right, and click the “Raise Money” button. On the next page you can edit your fundraising title, goal, description, and image if you’d like. If you’re looking for ideas on how to personalize it, here are our suggestions:
Suggested Title: “[Your Name]’s National Coming Out Day Fundraiser for LGBTQIA+ Youth” or “[Your Name]’s Fundraiser for GSAFE”

Suggested Description: Want to join me in supporting a good cause in honor of National Coming Out Day? GSAFE has worked for 25 years to support and empower the leadership of LGBTQI+ youth in schools across Wisconsin. From centering queer and trans BIPOC youth through their Foundations of Leadership program to advocating for policies and practices that protect and affirm trans and nonbinary youth, GSAFE continues to work for schools where LGBTQIA+ youth are safe to live, love, and learn. Please share this fundraiser and donate if possible. Whether you donate $5 or $500, every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.
We know that 2020 has been a challenging time for you and so many others. We also know that GSAFE’s mission is close to your heart. Our own hearts are overflowing with appreciation for YOU for your support, now more than ever. Thank you for all that you are doing to stay well while working for change in our schools and community. Please feel free to drop us a note with questions or suggestions. Thank you!
