Toolkit, Building Safe and Affirming K-12 Schools for LGBTQ+ Youth

Building Safe and Affirming K-12 Schools for LGBTQ+ Youth

GSAFE is excited and proud to launch our new toolkit, Building Safe and Affirming K-12 Schools for LGBTQ+ Youth, a guide for educators and other leaders interested in creating safe and affirming schools for LGBTQ+ youth.

The guide emphasizes ways in which caring educators can cultivate their capacity to show up for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC young people in our school communities by creating affirming spaces, respecting pronouns, and advocating for policies and procedures that uplift LGBTQ+ and BIPOC youth, while speaking up against harmful policies and legislation locally and federally.

Toolkit includes sections on:

School Climate for LGBTQ+ Students

Book Challenges and Book Banning

Intersectionality, Stigma, Bias, and Discrimination

What to Do When a Student Comes Out to You

Pathways to Acceptance for Families: Schools as Resources and Partners
