Teen Pride Arts 2014 slated for April 13th at Overture Center for the Arts Rotunda Stage

Teen Pride Arts is an annual gathering of rainbow-spectrum teens, friends, and allies, coming together to celebrate their identities, enjoy performances, network, and make art. The event will bring teens from around the Michael Velliquette head shotstate, many of whom are involved in their Gay Straight Alliances at home, but all teens 13 and up are welcome to join Teen Pride Arts on Sunday, April 13th, from 6-8 pm at the Overture Center for the Arts’ Rotunda Stage in Madison. Admission is free.

Telling our stories, making art, and sharing who we are with our friends, family, and community makes us feel alive. It teaches us we are not alone – or that we are not the only ones who feel alone sometimes. This year’s event follows on the heels of the Day of Silence (the student-led national event that brings attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools, Friday, April 11th) and will break that silence with the theme, “Giving Voice.”

We’ll explore this theme as members of the teen theater community perform monologues and sketches, and visual artist Michael Velliquette leads an art-making workshop.cargo coffee logo
